Apply a face mask in 5 simple steps

Step 1: Be prepared to make a mess.  If you’re going to apply a facemask while relaxing in the tub, you don’t have to worry about making a mess. You can cover your face, neck and throat and just relax. If you don’t have time for a bath, then take the time to pull back your hair so it’s not near your face.  Be sure to wear clothing that you don’t mind getting messy. Chances are, you’ll make a bit of a mess when you use a mask.  But, hey, that’s the fun of it all!

Step 2: I always recommend starting with a freshly cleansed face. Use your daily cleanser to remove all of the surface dirt, oils and makeup before you apply your mask. This will help to ensure that you receive all of the benefits your face mask was designed to deliver.
Step 3: Using damp hands, apply your mask directly onto your damp skin.  Remember it’s called a face mask for a reason. You should look like you’re wearing a mask when you put it on. Never rub the mask directly into your skin. It should be applied like frosting on a cupcake. Be sure to avoid the eye area, keep your nostrils clear and extend the mask from your face, down your neck and throat. Nothing worse then a young looking face and an old wrinkly neck ,right?  I always treat my neck as an extension of my face.
Step 4:  Just wait! You can use this 10 minutes to relax, style your hair, check your email…whatever you want. Just be conscientious of the time and follow the directions. If the directions read leave on for up to 15 minutes, then that’s what you need to do. Just don’t leave your face mask on for 20 or 30 minutes. The product benefits are tied to the directions for usage. Be sure to follow them exactly.
Step 5:  It’s time to remove the mask. Masks are designed to adhere to your skin. You don’t want to be too rough when removing it. Use plenty of water and a wash cloth to gently wash away the mask. Pat, don’t rub, your skin dry with a towel.
It doesn’t get any easier then that when it comes to using mask.

The reason why you need to apply mask now

Facial mask is a kind of skin care product that you apply on your faceIt is considered as one of the easiest ways to get healthy and supple skin within a few minutes. Also as face masks are designed for different skin and age types, it is highly recommended to include it to your skin care routine.
Face mask

There are a variety of facial masks available in the market. Some of the face masks are to be worn at night, while you are sleeping. There are also face masks that you can use before taking a bath or shower for a short time period. Even face masks can be made at home with the help of some easily available ingredients from your kitchenNo matter which type of mask you choose to wear, keep in mind that it will hugely benefit your skin.
Usually a facial mask product is to be used for a short period of time on the face. It takes only a few minutes to apply, and then you just have to wait for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it off. The process of applying a face mask is simple and easy and it gives you immense benefits.

Here are the five benefits of using a face mask:

  1. Refines skin pores: Face mask can help you to get clearer skin and more refined pores. It deep cleanses the pores and clears the pores of dead skin cells, metabolic wastes and the oily substances that can clog them.
  2. Increases hydration: Face mask can also bring moisture and hydration to dry and dehydrated skin types. The water from the mask penetrates deep into the skin epidermis to soften the skin and enhance its elasticity. When the skin is hydrated and well moisturized, it becomes easy to apply proper makeup. Also it gives a more plump and youthful appearance to the skin.
  3. Diminishes fine lines: Regular use of face masks can reduce the signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and brown spots and so on. Also you will get to enjoy a softer and smoother skin texture.
  4. Gives even skin tone: Face masks are also designed to diminish hyper-pigmentation and give you more even skin tone and texture. It also promotes the sweat gland secretion so as to increase the oxygen content of the skin.
  5. Firmer skin: Loose skin can make your look older than your age. The problem of loose skin can be easily solved with regular use of face masks. There are certain types of face masks that help to enhance collagen production and fight off free radical damage which will gradually result in firmer, tighter, fresher looking skin.
Apart from the above mentioned skin benefits, applying a face mask also helps you to relax. You get the time to relax, while your face mask is working. This will help you to de-stress and that alone can make you look and feel better! Whether you use a cream or a sheet based face pack, you’ll feel great during the process. You can even try some homemade face masks. Looking at the benefits of using a face mask, it will not be wrong to say that it is well worth the time and effort to include it to your weekly, beauty skin care routine.

The Mask

Clay masks

These use kaolin clay, a natural component in soil. Montagne Jeunesse (a natural skin and body-care brand sold around the world) uses kaolin from Cornwall, England, says Keith Rockhill, the company’s U.K.-based marketing director. In cosmetics, kaolin is known for its efficacy in absorbing oil, for drawing out impurities and dirt that can make pores look more noticeable, and for removing dead skin cells. These masks might be targeted to oily T-zones or acne-prone skin, and may contain acne-fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid.

Hydrating masks

Like the pumpkin mask from Éminence, or the cooling cucumber mask from Freeman, these soothe, nourish and, as their name implies, super-moisturize. Éminence’s is a rinse-off, the most common type, while Freeman’s peels off, which can be fun—it really depends on personal preference.
